Overview

Our Component Production Laboratory utilizes state-of-the-art technology to provide a full range of the highest quality blood components necessary to meet the transfusion needs of patients in the Gulf Coast and surrounding regions. Our skilled, professional technicians are committed to following Current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) standards and provide top-notch customer service. Our processes and transfusable components are validated and tested regularly according to regulations and we continually seek to improve our services through the advancement of technology.

Lab Management

Jamie Scroggins is currently the Component Lab Manager at Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center in Houston. She is an experienced Medical Technologist, receiving her Bachelor’s of Science degree in Medical Technology from the University of Illinois, Springfield (formerly Sangamon State University).

Jamie has been with GCRBC for over five years. Prior to joining the GCRBC Component Lab team, Jamie was the Neighborhood Donor Center Operations Manager with the Donor Collections department. Her previous experience includes numerous positions in blood center, hospital transfusion service and vendor settings including Manager of Hospital Relations and Component Lab Manager (Carter BloodCare, Bedford TX), and Marketing Manager for Whole Blood Processes (Caridian BCT, Lakewood CO).

Jamie has given numerous presentations related to whole blood manufacturing and automated technologies at national and regional conferences and has authored several abstracts. She is a sitting member of the Scientific Section Coordinating Committee for the American Association of Blood Banks and chairs the Donor and Blood Component Management Sub-committee.
