ABOUT GULF COAST REGIONAL BLOOD CENTER

Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center aka The Blood Center, began operations independent of the Medical Society on January 1, 1975. Today, The Blood Center has grown to serve over 220 health care institutions in a 25-county Texas Gulf Coast region.

Recognized worldwide for its dedication to quality operations, state-of-the-art technologies and management expertise, The Blood Center has received the Organizational Excellence Award from the Greater Houston Partnership and the University of Houston's Center for Organizational Research and Effectiveness. The Center is a member of the American Association of Blood Banks, South Central Association of Blood Banks, the Texas Medical Center, America's Blood Centers and Blood Centers of America.

The Blood Center is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization and is accredited, licensed and inspected by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), CLIA, the American Association of Blood Banks, New York State Department of Health, European Union, as well as local and state authorities.
