EDUCATION

Gulf Coast provides several lecture and seminar offerings throughout the year that are open to the public. Speakers include internal and external experts from a variety of disciplines. Topics include:

• The latest advances in blood-related research
• Clinical application of diagnostic laboratory testing
• Quality process in blood bank management
• Role of transfusion in managing patients with special   and/or long-term transfusion needs

Gulf Coast provides research grants to promote research and development in all scientific, medical/technical and administrative aspects of blood banking and related activities. Each year, The Commit for Life (CFL) Scholarship Program grants seniors money to be applied to their college education. Awards are given to students who submit winning essays or videos that inspire others to save lives as a CFL blood donor.
